Walking On Water
Matthew 14, 28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it is you, tell me to come to you on the water.
29 And he said, Come. And when Peter had come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
30 But when he saw [that] the wind [was] strong, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried [out], saying, Lord, save me.
31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth [his] hand, and caught him, and said to him, O you of little faith, why did you doubt? (GBMV)
Jesus walked on the water in the fourth watch of the night, and Peter was bold enough to ask if he could come out on the water too. He trusted the Lord. And he listened to His voice that said to Him “Come!” There was no doubt in him that it was Jesus calling him. He also didn’t doubt that he could walk on the water. And he did! At least, for a few steps.
But then Peter saw the wind and it was strong. The waves started to splash around him. He opened his heart to fear and began to sink immediately.
We sometimes condemn Peter a little and think he was a failure for not believing the Lord and for being afraid. But he had done something nobody else had done before (except Jesus of course). He was the only one, out of all the disciples, that took the challenge and was prepared to get out the ship.
Doing Business Isn’t Any Different
In business you are sometimes faced with the same situation, just as Peter was there on the water.
The Lord opens up circumstances around you, for you to step into something new. He opens up business opportunities that require starting something new that perhaps nobody else has ever done before. Or perhaps you are faced with something that is out of your league. And it goes against the way you have done business before. It could mean you have to leave your comfort zone.
There are two groups of people that the Lord is addressing here.
A. You are facing a new opportunity in business and you don’t know how to handle it. You don’t know how to approach this situation and challenge.
B. You saw the opportunity and decided boldly to go for it. Once you stepped into it however, your circumstances changed for the worse. And now you’re struggling to trust the Lord and to follow through with it.
How are you supposed to react?
Group A:
If you can identify with group A then the Lord has brought you to a new opportunity in your business. He has done so because you asked Him to open up a new way. You have given Him the license to work on your behalf and He created the circumstances for you.
However, the next step is up to you. He is never going to force you to step out of your comfort zone. But this is exactly what will be required of you. You will have to leave your comfort zone and the way you are used to doing things.
It will need a step in boldness and a step in faith. If you are recognizing the circumstances around you as an answer to your prayers, and a platform for you to grow in your business, it is your turn to take the opportunity and to step out boldly.
Embrace the challenges and fix your eyes on the Lord. Journal about it, and then TAKE action.
It is not good enough to say you believe the Lord that this is of Him. How do you release what is within you? Through words and ACTION.
He is there with you all the way. He believes in you and you can trust Him. But you have to let go of your comfort zone. You have to take a chance to step into the unknown.
This is your chance to rise up and to do something new. This is your chance to answer your call and to take your business to the next level.
Group B:
Perhaps, you can identify with group B. You were not afraid to take the opportunity, but stepped out boldly. You took action and left your comfort zone behind. But it did not turn out the way you expected it to. And now you are faced with storms and a situation that you feel, you can’t handle anymore.
It feels like you are sinking. And perhaps you doubt that you heard the Lord correctly when you took this opportunity.
You too, have to fix your eyes on the Lord again. Instead of looking at the mess around you and the negatives that you are facing right now, fix your eyes on Him alone. Go and journal about your circumstances. Hear His voice afresh and put your trust in Him again. You cannot fight this alone and you cannot overcome your fears on your own.
But you have to come to a new level in trusting Him. You have to let go of your fears. Face your fears of failure and confront them with the Word. His word says that you are more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus. You are the head and not the tail. In your weakness, His strength will be made complete.
Speak the truth and set your eyes back on His promises, and what He said He will do with your business. Push on through with what He has given to you. Do not give up now or give in. He has a miracle waiting for you. He wants to take your business to a new level and He wants to bless you.
It is not just about your skills and abilities, and what great business practices you are using. What you have stepped into is far greater than what you can do or accomplish on your own. Forget about the failing part or all your struggles. He knows what you are capable of. Otherwise, He would not have trusted you with this business opportunity. He believes in you!
Rise up afresh and fix your eyes on the goal ahead. He has not left you and He is there to lend you a helping hand.
Ready to walk on water?
Step out boldly today and be ready to go where no one else has gone before. Be ready to take your business to a new level. Be ready to push and follow through.
He is there to back you up along the way. He will give you the wisdom and the boldness that you need to succeed in your business.
Trust Him and see your business grow!
